V.N. (5 Star Review) – This is probably the first legitimately good autonomous dog toy:
I’ve been following these guys since they launched on Kickstarter, and i was so happy when they had a product shipping on Amazon!
I don’t have anything particularly negative about this toy, but it does have a few quirks.
— Firstly it doesn’t have any camera, so it’ll sometimes drive into another toy or something that may be sitting on the rug.
— The second quirk has to do with the treat dispenser. I’m not sure if it has to do with overfilling it or the type of treat used, but every so rarely it’ll jam and have to be re-seated.
Ok, all that being said, the robot is actually really great! It took maybe… a week or so to get my dog to stop being scared of it. I suspect it may take less for others, but my dog happens to be extra scared of anything that makes motor type sounds (vacuum, roomba, etc.) I reached out to the manufacturer and they gave me some suggestions on how to get my pup acquainted with the robot. Mostly it involved spitting treats at her 🙂
Now that she’s a lot less scared of it, I set it to autonomous mode and she hope around behind it, poking it with her paw in hopes of a treat to fall out! It seems like she’s enjoying herself!
So to sum up: excellent toy, feels very durable, my dog is enjoying it, and the quirks are minor (and may even be fixable in software updates). If you work out of the house and your pup is bored for hours in a row, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Varram bot!

I have a small dog that is often afraid of motor sounds or electronic gadgets. At first, he was scared as usual watching this item from a far. But with the interactive treat toss and AI activities, I surprised how fast my dog got acquainted to the device. Now it follows the device all day trying to earn its treat! Also, how the device tracks my dog and generates these statistics available through app is absolutely fascinating. Lastly, the carrier had hard time entering my premise and handing me the package. The Customer Service was very engaging and helpful in sorting the situation to get the item delivered safely to my apartment. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
